The world has changed in a blink with the arrival of COVID-19 and with it our time-honoured traditions of saying goodbye.
For more than 30 years, "Rev Deb" has been assisting families across the GTA and Niagara areas, and is available to assist you now by providing virtual funeral ceremonies for those who wish to gather and honour their loved ones.
From a beautiful chapel setting in her home in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Deborah conducts uplifting Celebrations of Life ceremonies using Zoom, an easy to use platform available on all devices. The funeral memorial is very flexible, including time for a few speakers and desired readings set in a service that reflects the family's wishes.
Once a time has been decided for the ceremony, Deborah will call the contact and work with them to prepare a ceremony that will honour their loved one and include elements that are important to the family. It is possible on the Zoom platform to screen share pictures and personalize the time together.
The ceremony can be recorded and sent to the family following the service - or sent to you to edit and add your logo and information. Services are about 25 minutes in length, depending on the time that the speakers take.
Deborah is comfortable offering funerals for people of all denominations, as well as ceremonies for those who prefer humanist or secular memorials.
A former Anglican Priest, she is the Presiding Bishop of the Community Catholic Church of Canada, and can offer a more catholic or Anglican service for those who wish it.
While gathering on a virtual platform is not the same as being together in your space, it does offer an opportunity for family and friends to gather and share in a time of togetherness and help with the grieving process. There is a need in us to remember and to honour our loved ones. A gathering can be arranged at the graveside when the current restrictions have passed.
Deborah is available through the week and on weekends to assist you. Call her at 905-468-9502 to discuss the ways in which she can support you and your families through this challenging time.
